The Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, has a population of over 2.3 million inhabitants, covers over 6,800 square kilometres and includes 315 municipalities.
In the project field of interest, the Metropolitan City of Turin has specific responsibilities for the environment and road infrastructure. Environmental policy implemented by the Metropolitan City of Turin is part of a process of development to sustainability in which a significant role is played by the planning and implementation of an integrated waste management able to achieve high targets for the reduction, recycling and recovery, as well as environmental rehabilitation of degraded and polluted areas.

Polytechnic University of Turin - associated beneficiary

The Polytechnic University of Turin, founded in 1906 from the roots of the Technical School for Engineers, is a centre of teaching and research, and one of the most important in Europe, strongly committed to collaboration with international institutions, high-tech companies and government agencies.
With specific reference to the project field of interest, the Polytechnic University of Turin is involved in researches, carried out in collaboration with other universities and public or private institutions, as well as with various European Community bodies relating to the use of rubber dust in road paving, cold recycling of bituminous mixtures, survey on incineration ashes, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), risk analysis.

Patrimonio Città di Settimo Torinese Srl - associated beneficiary

The scope of the company "Patrimonio Città di Settimo Torinese S.R.L" is to implement a coordinated and unified administrative action for the efficient, effective and financially sound management of the city of Settimo's subsidiaries. The scope of the company also includes construction activity in general with particular reference to the construction of buildings for residential purposes, activities of accommodation and urbanization of building areas, agricultural areas, public and private green areas, including the design and production of street furniture and completion of the works.

Fiat S.C.p.A Research Centre (CRF) - associated beneficiary

Fiat S.C.p.A Research Centre (CRF) was founded in 1976 as a focal point for innovation, research and development by the Fiat Group. Today it is an internationally recognized centre of excellence whose mission is to use innovation as a strategic lever within the group, improving performance through the development and transfer of innovative content.
CRF, which serves as a center of research and excellence within Fiat Group Automobiles, has carried out a series of activities for several years to improve the management of end-of-life vehicles, in addition to the analysis of the best technologies to increase the amount of materials to be sent to recycling and recovery of energy, in order to optimize the economic and environmental performance.

Brillada Vittorio & C Snc - associated beneficiary

BRILLADA VITTORIO & C Sncis a company based in Borgaro Torinese (Turin), which has been engaged in the construction and road maintenance since the early '50s.
Originally dedicated to local urban works, the company has gradually expanded its areas of activity, becoming specialized in the production and placement of advanced and innovative bituminous materials for major highways and the International Airport of Turin - Caselle. The Company has always been involved in innovation and has promoted many research activities carried out by the Polytechnic University of Turin.

CEIPIEMONTE S.c.p.a. - associated beneficiary

Ceipiemontewas born from an initiative of the Piedmont Region (Regional Law no. 13 of 2006) in accordance with the Chamber of Commerce, representatives of economic categories, universities, the Polytechnic University of Turin and other local authorities.
While promoting excellence in the world and fostering the internationalization of the area, Ceipiemonte pursues the following objectives: strengthening foreign markets, attracting investments, promoting the history and culture of Piedmont, training and updating local and foreign enterprises and institutions, and enhancing the wine and culinary excellence of the region in foreign markets.

ECOPNEUS - co-financier

Ecopneus scpais a consortium joint-stock company, which consists of six major producers and importers of tires in Italy, to perform, in a partnership, the obligations arising from the "producer responsibility" to manage the tracking, collection, treatment and final destination of discarded tires, according to an organizational model adopted by the majority of European countries, where there has been a resulting significant improvement in the reduction of illegal activities on discarded tires and the subsequent consolidation of the treatment and use sector; such liability relates to a quantity of discarded tires equal to that placed on the market by the manufacturers and importers in the previous year.
