The doctor Augusta Lange (Turin, 1908 - Turin 1995), official of the State Archives of Turin and known scholar of art history in Piedmont, left to the Library of History and Culture of Piedmont "G. Grosso", by legacy, his rich archive of study, containing notes, notes, drafts and drafts of reports, handwritten and typescript cards, photographs and copies of documents, which you have used over forty years of research work, for a total of about 120 folders.
In parallel, it was also decided to purchase the remaining part of his library, rich in about a thousand volumes not only belonged to the scholar, but also to his brother Guglielmo and the archaeologist and ethnologist Augusto Doro.
The whole library and archive, now in phase of increment with the progressive recovery of the dispersions, represents a point of passage obliged for who takes care of the historical artistic events tied to the Baroque in Piedmont, especially thanks to the numerous documentary notes related to Guarino Guarini and Filippo Juvarra.
But the field of research of Augusta Lange also extends to the late Middle Ages, with investigations of painters and pictorial cycles of the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, and often also deals with topics of more strictly historical relevance, such as the surveys on the demography of the valleys of Cuneo, and the insights of Savoy, an index of an activity extended also to the historical societies beyond the Alps, widely witnessed.
